LIFE PROJECT FOR OUR EUROPEAN YOUTH. EDUCATION AND GUIDANCE FROM TEACHING INSTITUTIONS.
PRIORITIES
EDUCATION: to help high schools to address the issue of academic dropouts and disadvantage situations.
The reality we face is that our youth increasingly younger are less motivated at school. We have to entail them in their own education, to involve them in their own life project which starts when they start high school, by empathizing with them and by sharing these responsibilities with the families.
This project pretends to avoid academic failure and dropouts preventing negative consequences that involve social exclusion. We want to give the opportunity to all our youth to build their own educational path with a positive and hopeful view, suitable to their interests and skills, in spite of the pessimistic climate which is currently present in our society.
The participation in this kind of project gives us the opportunity to make us aware of our possible contribution to the change of this reality. The exchange with other countries (mobilities of teachers and students) can help us to find shared solutions, to evaluate things that work, to change the ones that don’t, to pass on our student that they have to learn to appreciate the opportunities they are offered and that they have to learn from each other.
We plan the following priority strategies in order to carry out this project:
OBJECTIVES
- To help our students to build their own life project, in detail, to know their abilities, skills, weaknesses and to know to apply them to their academic path to get a full personal, vocational and professional development.
- Organization proposals, projects, ideas, innovative interdisciplinary experiences, etc. that help to imply teachers, students and families from the partner centres.
- To promote a positive interaction between the students, the school and their future.
- To provide the families with models, strategies, resources, etc. to fight against demotivation, school dropouts, and to contribute to an optimal life project in our children.
- To help our young people to make a right choice of their school life project, knowing how to choose their academic and professional path that adjusts better to their possibilities.
- To contribute to the complete and adequate development of our youth in all important aspects of their lives: emotional, social, family, affective, etc.
- To stimulate our young people in a culture of effort, motivation, solidarity, responsible citizenship, empathy, etc.
- To promote the implication of teachers, families and local institutions to change their minds about the future of our youth, as they will be the adults of the future.
- To promote a healthy entertainment culture for our youth using all possible environment resources and involving all parts.
- To avoid through formal education the risks factors of unemployment, social exclusion and cultural poverty.
- To give our students the opportunity to approach the European reality, sharing opinions, interests, worries, future alternatives, etc. with other young people and improving their vision of their local reality to a European one which will be more rewarding.
* NEEDS
- Schools are at risk of falling into a daily routine. Therefore, we have to deceive ourselves to teach again, to educate and to give our youth guidance, as we join them while they develop their own life project.
- Constant learning from other European centres by implementing projects, sharing experiences, etc. to enrich all of us.
- To convert our center into a place full of positive experiences for our students. To contribute to a complete and adequate education.
- To improve skills for teachers with organization, methodology and didactic proposals full of innovation.
- To offer our youth an alternative healthy and inclusive leisure time that contributes to the benefit and improvement of the local environment.
- To expand the vital experience of our youth by sharing experiences and interests with young people from other European countries.
- To improve language skills of our teachers and students by using all things learnt in class during the exchanges or international meetings with other European Centres.
*TARGET GROUPS
-Students: this project is addressed to 12-18 years-old students, attending Compulsory Secondary Education or high school. The direct participation of students in the different activities planned in the project is assured by the implementation of these procedures among the regular dynamic of each centre. Students will participate in these designed activities during their school time with their teachers and in workshops with their families outside the school day.
To select the students who will participate in the exchanges, we will take into consideration a certain criteria in each one of the academic levels. These criteria will be fair and inclusive, and they will take in consideration equal opportunities among all the students. Cultural and linguistic fulfilment is one of the main factors to involve students.
- Teachers: thanks to the teachers participating in this project we assure its implementation, as there is a team of teachers in each centre who are specialized in different areas and who are part of different teaching departments. This fact facilitates the fulfilment and proposal of interdisciplinary activities. A certain number of teachers will participate in each exchange depending on the number of students travelling. They will all travel with the coordinator of each centre. Teachers will design, implement and assess each activity proposed during the project. In this sense, teachers from each centre will be also offered to participate in each one of the training activities, allowing other teachers collaborating in the project to benefit from these activities.
- Families: their involvement will be focused on the collaboration to organize after-school activities for the students through the Parents’ Associations and training activities for the own families. The families of the students participating in the exchanges will have a special involvement in the organization of these international meetings and in the sharing of experiences with families from the other centres using digital media for communication.
- Local agents: we will ask for the collaboration of the Town Halls of each city of the partners participating in the project, not just for the organization of the meetings, but also for the development of the activities. We are also going to involve the local University and cultural associations that wish to collaborate.
*ADDED VALUE AND WHY IT IS INNOVATIVE.
This project is necessary at this moment due to the social reality we are living: an economic crisis which has created a social crisis with a special impact among young people. To avoid academic failure and dropouts, lack of motivation and trust in a successful future is a responsibility of all the society, but specially, of the families and schools.
To contribute with organization proposals, projects and experiences which are shared with different schools in other European countries, is an added value to enthusiasm and renew the effort of the teachers, so they are able to contribute with their work so that the life project of our European youth during their highschool life is constructive and promotes a complete development as citizens responsible for their own lives.
The career and skills of the teachers and families from each one of the centres will be also one of the main and priority elements during the whole project, with specific proposals (workshops, walks, training seminars, after-school projects).
TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES
The task and responsibilities for each partner will be agreed according to the skills each centre has in connection with the tasks and activities proposed.
- To coordinate and monitor the design, development and final assessment of the results of the project, not only in the own school, but also in all partner centers, providing them with effective solutions against any incident that may arise during the whole period of the project.
- To promote an equal and active participation of the different partner centres, encouraging their coordinators to promote the involvement and to look for a common interest and for the final objective of the project.
- To enable and promote a fluent communication with the coordinators and between all the participants of the project (students, teachers, families,…) by using different technologies (email, videoconferences, skype, website, social networks, etc.).
- To contribute to the creation and exchange of all educational materials in a digital format.
- To carry out a continuous monitoring of the level of objectives, tasks, proposals and activities fulfilled, which are included in this project.
- To coordinate, facilitate assessment and support for the preparation and development of the activities planned for each mobility, the visits and previous meetings of the project.
- To promote the dissemination of the project and its results through all available means and resources (newsletter, website, social networks, radio, local newspapers, institutional platforms, etc.).

- To plan, design and create training activities for teachers and families (Good teaching practices seminars for teachers, “How to teach teenagers without dying while trying” for families).
- Implementation of the student’s digital portfolio among the program G-SUITE EDUCATION (Classroom).
